ICT Photostory - October 5th

1) This picture was taken probably when my younger sister, Mahi, was ten or eleven months old. The kid who looks kind of like a boy is actually me. I had a really short hair cut then. Anyway, this picture is important to me because it’s one of the oldest memories of my life. I love my younger sister so much. We’d always play together, and I really don’t know what I’d do without her.

2) This picture was taken in kindergarten, when I was about five years old. I used to go to Dalhousie Elementary, and that was a great start to school for me (even though I moved and didn’t go to grade one and two in Canada). I remember all my friends, and a lot of them actually come to Acadia today. So, obviously, this picture means a lot to me.

3) When I was younger, I really liked playing and I was very…imaginative. I would take all my toys and dress up in my best clothes and sit down on my very large green sofa, and act like it was my traveling vehicle and I was the traveler. Sometimes, I’d take the sofa to be a boat, sometimes a plane, sometimes a car – sometimes it was even a skateboard. I was like a mother to all my toys (in the pictures). And this picture is just proof, that I didn't find Barney terrifying all the time.

4) This is a picture from my last year’s band performance. I’m the girl in the middle, and, as I’m sure you’ve all noticed by now, I used to play the flute. The boy and the girl on either side of me were also flute players. I remember we played two advanced pieces that they don’t teach you until grade 12. This picture is really important to me, as that was my second year taking band and this concert was a very big thing for me. I remember how nervous I as at first. But when we started playing, everything just worked out great.

5) So, you might be wondering why this picture would even be important to me? Well, it’s really important to me because I MADE MY VERY OWN JEWELERY, which is like a really big thing for me because I’m physically incapable of using my hands for anything creative. But, I did it! And, I was quite proud of my final product. Never thought I had it in me! And, honestly, I actually liked my necklace, two bracelets and six pair of ear-rings I made (even though I don't really wear that much jewelery).

6) This picture was taken when I was seven, and it was at my cousin’s marriage ceremony. Since I’m from Bangladesh, our marital rituals are waaaaaaaay different than those in Canada. And, this picture’s really important to me, because this was the first marriage I’d ever been to. And my cousin who was getting married was a very favorite and close cousin of mine. So, I’ll probably remember this day for the rest of my life.

7) This picture was taken this year, and as I think you can tell, I was extremelyyyyyyyyyy sleepy. I can be such a lazy person, it’s not even funny. I tend to procrastinate WAY too much. This was one of those days, where I was punishing myself for being such a procrastinator and forcing myself to do one extra chapter in my math textbook. Aaah, brings back memories. Not fun ones though.

8) This is a picture with one of my really close friends. We’ve known each other since when I was six. She’s also from Bangladesh, and we became friends almost instantly. Over all these years, even when I went back to Bangladesh, we remained really close friends. We used to go to the same school together too…until this year when I moved closer to Acadia. Anyway, this picture is really important to me, because 1) it reminds me about her and 2) Sarinah (that's her name) hates taking pictures and this is one of her very few photos that I actually have.

9) I took this picture at my old school’s soccer field. I was trying to look “gangsta”, but, obviously, that didn’t work out so great. I was fooling around with this new camera that my dad bought for himself personally. This picture just reminds me about the fun times I had with my old friends. So, obviously, it’s really important to me, and it deserves to be put on this collage-thing. (=D)

10) This last one isn’t technically a “photo”. It’s more of a Photoshop graphic that I made. Why is this important to me, you ask? Because, this is the copyright sign that I put on some of my graphic creations and PNGs for my website (so that people can’t steal them and claim them to be their own). My website is a design/tutorial/graphic website for website designers. I’ve been working with Photoshop for about three years now, and I’ve turned better at it than I was at first. So, this is definitely really important to me. It helps me see how far I've come at designing.
